Quicktime 7.6.6 disables Adobe After Effects 6.5 Hey all, I recently upgraded my iTunes to version 9.x and it simultaneously upgraded my Quicktime to version 7.6.6. No big deal, except now when I try to run an old copy of After Effects I have (After Effects 6.5), I get an error message 'Sorry, After Effects can't continue' with error code 00::42. When I roll back my quicktime to 7.5.5, After Effects runs fine. Where is this error coming from, and when do you (Apple) plan to fix it because my OS 4 iPod Touch is worthless without the new iTunes which won't run on QT 7.5.5?

'' i am away from my desktop station until august 11 so i can't get you actual log files, but i'm pretty sure what was happening was that PPRO would hang on editing when applying effect (including NEAT VIDEO (which i know needs a lot of juice) and then i would kill the process, or i would close PPRO and it wouldn't close in TaskManager, the funny thing is is that after i'd kill the process and reopen PPRO, the effect would be 'rendered' on the timeline (even the NEATVIDEO). However, it wasn't until being bored that i was really reading everything that CCLEANER was cleaning.

Okay, the issue is supposed to be resolved by following these instructions: cations.html The blogpost describes exactly what is going on with After Effects CC. It says: 'Set the entire Adobe preferences folder and its contents to be read/write, not just read-only.'

However this folder: Mac OS: [drive]/Users/[user_name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe/.seems to be in a different spot on my mac; Mac OS: [drive]/Library/Preferences/ Or is it the wrong folder? It contains many.plist files amongst which com.adobe. Preferences, so I am guessing it's the right one. There is no Library folder in the Users/[user_name] folder anyway. But changing the 'read only' into 'read/write' doesn't seem to get me anywhere.

Having done so, the same notification remains: 'Quicktime is not installed on this system.' Just a direction; no solution yet.
