I have the same problem. Apparently, Comcast/Xfinity has not made available to its customers the newest version of Norton that supports Yosemite.

This is outrageous on their part. It has been clear for quite some time that Apple would launch a newer version of its OS, in fact, the test versions have been available for quite some time. I chated with someone at Support (Kamran) this morning about this very thing. I was assured that the problem was known and that a version of Norton for Mac that supports Yosemite woul dbe avialable in several hours from the time I chatted with him/her. We chatted around 8:30am today. I confirmed the same with a Norton tech on Sunday night. Relation between frequency and temperature.

He did a remote session to my Mac and confirmed. He told me that there would be a fix available in 48 hours. Nothing as of tonight (Tuesday).

I'm wondering why this wasn't addressed earlier between Norton and Apple since the tech confirmed that Norton was going to release a fix. Not sure if Comcast can be blamed at this point, although their customer service is terrible. I was hung up on 3 times Sunday until on the last call, they gave me Nortons phone number.

Why can't Comast as least post a notice on their site that the software will be updated by Norton as soon as possible. No regard for the customer at all. Sorry for the delay in responding to this thread. This issue may happen if you upgrade to Mac OSX Yosemite 10.10 with Norton Internet Security 5.6 for Mac installed. You have to update Norton Internet Security from 5.6 to 5.7 first and then upgrade your Mac OSX. I'm currently checking this further with the concerned team to see if there is a chance to get the direct 5.7 version for Comcast Mac users.

I'll update this thread once I get further information, please be patient with me. Harry Norton Support. Just got done with the Comcast support chat. They had me uninstall the software I had and download their version with a activation code. I confirmed with them that this would be version 5.7. They tsaid yes, but when I installed it, quess what, it's 5.6 and can't be installed on Yosemite.

Now I'm back where everyone else is plus I stupidly didn't save the 5.7 dmg. I will try to find this again and hope the activation code I got with 5.6 will work or at least have antivirus for the next 30 days. Oh well, another wasted evening. I am experiencing the same issue with Comcast's Norton Internet Security software not compatible with Mac OS X Yosemite. I contacted Comcast's dedicated Norton support line, and was told by the technician that Norton does actually have a compatible version available.

However, Comcast is NOT currently offering this version to their customers. He said they anticipate it will be available to Comcast customers in 1-2 months. S hould customers not want to wait for Comcast to get their act together, they can purchase the compatible version directly from Norton. If anyone can get a better answer from another technician, their support info.

Is: 877-272-7149. I spoke to both Comcast and Norton tech support today. Bottom line - the version of Norton hosted by Comcast does not support Mac OS X 10,10 (Yosemite). Furthermore, there is no confirmed date (other than 'soon') for remediation. Norton Internet Security Version 5.7 is confirmed to support Mac OS X Yosemite. Here's the temporary fix: 1.

Download the 30-day trial from the Norton site 2. Install and respond 'Register later' when prompted for the activation code. Restart your Mac If you want to do the community a favor, contact Comcast tech support and request they provide the service we paid for by hosting the updated version of Norton Internet Security on the Comcast support site. I spent 3+ hours trying to resolve this issue with Comcast phone support last night, who transferred me to Norton tech support, and then live chatting online with more Comcast technical support. As everyone else has already said, the issue is that when you install Yosemite, the Comcast version of Norton Anti-Virus no longer works. When you go to the Comcast site to download updated Norton Antivirus, it downloads and in the install you then find out the Comcast version will not run on Yosemite, leaving you with a totally unprotected computer.
