When you view a presentation in Slide Show view, any animations applied to slide objects typically play when you click your mouse or press the spacebar. Another option to cause the animation to happen is by clicking a button on a presentation remote — each of these options advances one animation at a time on a slide. If there are no more animations on the slide, clicking will take you to the subsequent slide. While this approach works for slides that have an animation or two, you will quickly realize that this is certainly not the way to go if your slides have tens of animations, or more. If you add that many animations to any slide, you probably want your animations to be automatically sequenced to happen one after the other, or even at the same time — that’s exactly where PowerPoint’s Animation Events can help. PowerPoint supports three types of Animation Events.

Tip: If you don't see the Animations pane, make sure you are in Normal view, and then click Animation Pane on the Animations tab. In the Animations pane, you can do any of the following: • Move or delete an animation Select the effect in the Animations pane. At the top of the pane, click the arrow keys to change the order of your animations, or click the red X to delete an animation.

To delete all animations from a slide at once, click the first item in the list, press and hold the SHIFT key as you click on the last item in the list, and then click the red X. • Change to a different animation Select the effect in the Animations pane, and click a different effect in the ribbon on the Animations tab. • Add another animation to the same object First select the text or object on the slide (not in the Animations pane), and then click the additional effect you want to apply. • Change the effect properties Select the effect in the Animations pane and make the changes you want under Effect Options. • Change the effect timing Select the effect in the Animations pane and make the changes you want under Timing. Depending on the width of the navigation pane, you will either see the and named tabs or the Slides and Outline icon tabs. • On the slide, select the animation effect that you want to change. Tips: • Each animation effect is represented on the slide by a number next to the object, which indicates the order that it will play in. If two animation effects are set to play at the same time, they are represented by a numbered stack. • To select an animation effect that is in a numbered stack, you must view the full list of animation effects on the slide.
