This tutorial shows how to sum a column in Excel 2010 - 2016. Try out 5 different ways to total columns: find the sum of the selected cells on the Status bar, use AutoSum in Excel to sum all or only filtered cells, employ the SUM function or convert your range to Table for easy calculations. Question: How do I insert a new column in Microsoft Excel 2011 for Mac? Answer: Select a cell to the right of where you wish to insert the new column. In this example, we've selected cell B1 because we want to insert a new column between column A and column B. Right-click and select 'Insert' from the popup menu.

Mark's answer doesn't work - if you do these steps, the concatenated cell 'D' no longer has data in it. After doing the concatenate as above, you need to copy the contents of column D and paste them into an empty column - Column E. But don't do a regular paste, choose 'Paste Special.' And then select 'values.' This will paste the data from column D into column E. Now Column E contains the text, and is no longer dependent on any other column. This last step is especially important if you want to copy and past the data out of Excel into something else.

I have Excel 2016 for Mac. I have made a table with 3 columns. Two columns have formulae. I have protected those two columns and unprotected the other one. I have protected the sheet. When I protect the sheet, it asks me 'Allow the user to.' And lists a number of options.

I explicitly allow the user to insert rows. Despite that, when I try and insert a row I get an error message 'The cell or chart that you are trying to change is protected and therefore read-only.' (I actually get that error message twice - once for each protected column I guess). So my question is, how can you insert a line in a protected table? I need the users of this table to be able to insert lines, but not to change the formulae. How exactly did you protect the table and column.

Microsoft NTFS for Mac by Paragon Software is a great upgrade to an exceptional cross-platform utility that’s easily worth the money, especially if you own the previous version 14, in which case this one’s free. If you download and install Paragon NTFS from the App Store, you can quickly delete this app by this way. Also you will need to delete app residuals afterwards. (3)Uninstall Paragon NTFS from System Preferences. Head to System Preferences, and click on Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X. Click Settings tab, and click Uninstall button. Should i install paragon for mac 15

Can you provide those steps. The best way to do is to protect the sheet with access to insert table. Do not have other protection enabled. When you create a table all the columns are actually protected by default, but to enable this protection you need to protect the sheet. I unprotected the column I wanted to be unprotected by selecting it and clicking Format > Cells > Protection and unchecking Locked then OK. I then protected the sheet by clicking the Review Tab, then Protect Sheet.

The protect sheet dialogue gives the option to allow insert line, which I selected. In fact I allowed all the possible options. There is no option in that dialogue to give a user access to insert table. The permissions you're enabling allow insertion of entire rows/columns even if they pass through a table. However, a table row/column amounts to inserting cells which is not permitted in a protected sheet. Thanks, but I am still confused. I am indeed attempting to insert a whole row in the sheet by putting the cursor on the row number at the left of the sheet, right clicking, and selecting insert.
